Access To The Internet

Stay with MySpace, Facebook is for your mom! March 17, 2009

It is exaggerated that the traffic of MySpace has been stagnant or even falling especially in the U.S. market. It is true that there has been a 28% drop of its market share of the U.S. social networking market compared with the previous year. (from 72.92% to 52.81%) The statistics were released by a web measurement firm called Hitwise. At the same, the market share of Facebook has grown from 14.46% to 36.03, which represents a 149% growth.

The truth is that there has been a demographic shift rather than a ‘death sentence’ for MySpace. If you want to be in contact with young people, say, under 30, you best choice at the moment would still be MySpace. It is shown from the table above that the numbers of young users aged between 18 and 24 has increased 1%. Users of older age groups are the major groups who are leaving MySpace. Meanwhile, according to Facebook, the number of users older than 30 years of age has increased. As more people aged from 18 to 24 choose to use MySpace, Facebook has a 27% drop in its users of this age group. (from 40.14% percent to 29.22 %) To be exact, Facebook claimed that one of the fastest growing areas is women over 55 years of age.

Your browser may not support display of this image.

If you include comCore, a third-party into the comparison of these figures of traffic, the focus will be more apparent. Monthly active users of Facebook reached 57 million on January while the number for MySpace only had minor fluctuations around 76 million. The data collected by Facebook itself shows that the number is only two-thirds of that counted by comScore. The only explanation is that comScore has got the wrong number. It is still claimed by Facebook that the number of its users in the U.S. is growing at a rate of one million per week.

What does this tell you then? It is known that MySpace originated from entertainment and customizable MySpace Layouts while Facebook’s root went back to college campuses. The focus of MySpace has always been on popular culture, music, video and other entertainment services, which all seem to suit younger generations better. Ads and services provide the main source of profit for the company. You might say that MySpace is not for everyone, well, you are right. It does have a niche market. Facebook, on the other hand, is growing internationally, with a little everything for everybody.

Medical Transcription – The Time Factor March 16, 2009

Filed under: Uncategorized @ 10:45 am

In the US it is mandatory for medical professionals to keep an accurate medical record of all aspects of a patient. The medical professionals gather the data related to the patient in audio format by using a dictaphone or voice recorder. The details of the patient are then transcribed in text form. This process of transforming dictation of physicians and other healthcare professionals from audio format to written text is known as Medical Transcription (MT). This written text may be stored as printed and/or electronic data. The preferred means of data storage are electronic medical records, which allows medical professionals the ability to access information, regardless of the geographical location.

Medical transcription is an ancient process. In olden times, Vaidyas (medical practitioners) in India used the services of their disciples to record the process of treatment in text form. It was a fully manual process. It has evolved now to digital form and speech recognition technology. The person who undertakes the process of transforming (transcribing) medical data from audio to text is known as Medical Transcriptionist and to a lesser extent, a Medical Transcriber.

Medical Transcriptionists are essential in all hospitals. They document patients’ healthcare information for their permanent medical records. Physicians or other healthcare providers dictate this information to them through the use of hi-tech tape recorders. Medical transcriptionists are highly sought after and when they become certified, they have invaluable knowledge that provides a lifetime of job options. Its possible now for the medical transcriptionists to work from home using the internet. The digital recordings of a doctor’s notes are downloaded from a central source and transcriptionists transcribe them on computers in their own homes. They can then be uploaded back after completion of the transcription.

Completion of a 1 year certificate course or a 2 years associate’s program is usually required to work as a medical transcriptionist. It is increasingly becoming a highly-paid career, though not without its share of difficulties. Long sitting hours often lead to back pain, eye strain and headaches in addition to the stress of concentration needed to provide accurate transcription. The accuracy in medical transcription is of paramount importance as the future treatment strategy of the patient is decided based upon this data in text form. The poor quality of some of the audio files further adds to the woes of the transcriptionist. However, people are still flocking to this career due to the high levels of salary.

The process of transcription is usually outsourced overseas. South-East Asian countries are the main beneficiaries of these outsourcing jobs. The primary reason for outsourcing to these countries is the low cost and availability of educated personnel. One other aspect is the time factor. And the winner in this aspect is India. There is approximately a 12 hour time gap between the US and India (more than one time zone is followed in the US). A medical professional can gather data from his patients all day long. He can then upload data at the end of the day to India where it is early morning.

The data can then be transcribed during the day in India. The transcribed files in text format can then be uploaded back to US at the end of the day, where it is early morning. Thus the gathering of data being done in US, while night time in India, can be transcribed in India, while night time in the US, which creates an ideal cycle, beneficial to personnel both in the US as well as in India. It is a win-win for both. The medicos don’t lose a single day and the transcription firms in India can work during the day. All this can be easily achieved due to the time factor. In this way the time factor plays the role of a catalyst in furthering of trade relations the two countries and both the countries are mutually benefited.

Satellite Internet Access – What You Should Know Before You Buy March 15, 2009

Filed under: House Of Websters @ 7:43 pm

When it comes to choosing a broadband internet connection, you only have three major options to choose from, cable, DSL, and satellite internet. Of the three, cable and DSL are the fastest, but they are not portable, and they are not available in most rural areas. However, satellite internet service can be had almost anywhere in the northern hemisphere where you have an unobstructed view of the southern sky, and in some cases you can even take it with you as you travel.

So how does satellite internet service work anyway? Well, the internet data is transmitted to a network of satellites that orbit high in our earth’s atmosphere. From there it is beamed down to be received by those who have the necessary equipment to be able to decode it and display at on their computers. So in order to receive satellite internet service, you will need to have a satellite dish, and modems for both uploading and downloading data from the satellite, as well as a capable computer system.

Because high speed satellite internet service is not dependent on cables or wires it can be received almost anywhere, and therefore it makes an excellent choice for those who live in rural parts of the country, or those who live in areas where cable and DSL are not available, and who want to take advantage of a high speed broadband internet connection.

Although satellite internet service is much faster then dial-up, in fact almost ten times as fast, it does not approach the ultra-fast speeds of both cable and DSL service. So if cable and DSL are available to you, either one of them may be a better choice for broadband internet access. However, in the absence of either cable or DSL, satellite internet service is much more preferable then dial-up.

Another great advantage of satellite internet service is its portability for people who are always on the go and travel a lot. For instance, many RVers make good use of satellite internet in order to have a high speed web connection pretty much anywhere they go across the country.

There are generally two options for these kind of travelers, either tripod mounted satellite dishes, or vehicle mounted units. Actually, either one can work very well when correctly set up, but the tripod mounted dishes provide much more flexibility for location of the dish, and they also cost quite a bit less than the vehicle mounted units when initially purchased. There are several companies that now have this kind of equipment available for sale, and they can be found very easily by making a search on the internet.

As you can see, there are a lot of reasons why satellite internet access can be a good choice for many consumers, but there are also drawbacks that must be considered as well. Hopefully, the information that we presented in this article can help you make an informed decision before you buy satellite internet services.

3 Reasons You Should Be Writing Articles To Promote Your Website March 11, 2009

Filed under: Publishing Management @ 3:30 am

Articles are a fantastic source of links and additional traffic to your site. There are countless sites online that want your articles. It’s a win-win situation for everyone. When you write articles and submit them online, you are able to leave a link to your own site often in the form of anchor text. Articles are a powerful too capable of giving your site essential exposure.

I know what you’re saying, “I can’t write.” I use to feel the same way. Frankly, you don’t have to be a published author or a journalist to write articles. The truth of the matter is, anyone can write. You just have to find a topic that interests you and start from there. What should you write about? You can write about anything from home renovations, to computers, to personal training, to web hosting, heck you can even write about writing. The bottom line is, articles are a valuable source of “relevant” back links and additional exposure to your site.

Incredible Source of Backlinks

Part of developing a successful website is by building links. When you submit articles to various articles sites such as Article Deopot, you are able to leave one or two links in the author bio box. Furthermore, many of these article submission sites allow you to add “anchor” text to the article or at the very least, in the author bio box. Many webmasters visit these sites to find additional content for their own sites. When they use your article they include the link structure. Article should be a major component of your link building campaign.

Additional Traffic

Traffic is essential to any successful website. Without it, you have nothing. Ultimately, the majority of your traffic well likely come from search engines, but articles can be an excellent source of supplementary exposure. If you have an article which is well distributed, you will see a significant increase in overall traffic.

Free Advertising

An example of this can be product oriented websites. If your website sells wedding accessories, you articles should be significant to your product or service. People will be more likely to click a link relevant to the topic of the article. Articles are a quality source of “free” advertising that will produce results.

As you can see, there are many benefits to writing articles as a way to promote your website. Once you decide that you will use this powerful tool, you need to find a wide selection of article submission sites. When deciding where to submit your article, try to find websites which receive high traffic and offer “live” links

The Article Depot submission forum has all the information you will need on writing, submitting and marketing your articles. Or check out Ron’s Article Blog for more great reading.

Web DevelopersSell More Websites in the Next Week Than You Have in The Last Year?

Filed under: Sales Parlor @ 12:17 am

I’m going to give you a hint that I have used in my sales training classes for web developers that explodes their results

  • stop selling websites,

      • start selling “more customers” or “more leads.”

In every sales training class I’ve done my students STRUGGLE with the concept that they shouldn’t be selling their products or services, they should be selling what the customer really wants and then they have trouble finding what the customer really wants.

So, let’s think this through. Why does a prospect buy a website from you? Think hard.

Let’s look back at the thought process of a typical prospect. Most, at least in their head, have started thinking that a website will bring them leads or more clients. So, when someone approaches them to sell them a website, some, in their heads, are thinking, website = more leads. Other prospects haven’t even gotten that connection, but they STILL want more customers. So, help them make the connection.

Instead of selling the website, go sell more leads or more customers through the use of YOUR website, but you’d better be able to deliver on that promise, or you’ll be in trouble.

I had a web developer client that hired me to help him develop his internet marketing. The first thing we did was make sure that all of his search engine listings and his pay-per-click listings were talking about the number of new clients that a typical prospect has gotten from them. 2-3 weeks later they had jumped from a $300K business to a $1M business.

So, far so good, great as a matter of fact, $1M was their target when we started working together.

However, there was still a gap in their internet marketing. We had raised their traffic 3 times, and their bottom line 3 times. However, when we looked at the website, they were still using the old copy talking about their product. Their conversion of traffic to leads to buyer was 0.7%, not what I like to see for my clients. I want to see at least 5%.

So, we rewrote the website copy, this time talking about the number of new clients that others had gotten. We uploaded their new copy to the site. One hour later they had jumped from 9 clients a week to 13 in the last hour, a fantastic jump.

  • Stop selling websites.

    • Sell the results–more leads, more prospects, more customers,

        • Then help your website viewer find the value of those leads by telling them just how many your customers have gotten.

Your sales will go through the roof, guaranteed!

  • The Ups And Downs Of Marriage March 9, 2009

Filed under: School of Relationships @ 6:16 am

Marriage is a very important phenomenon in human life. It is a tradition of society as well as a healthy concept for basic needs of opposite sex in life. It bounds two people to be life companions and is the foundation of family system of civilization. Often it divides life into parts. Comparisons between before and after marriage derive the three kinds of marriages.

Happy marriage: – Happy marriage is happy marriage in all prospects. Clear understanding, deep love, mutual respect of thoughts, faith, ignorance of silly mistakes and cool temperament towards disputes are the qualities. Such kinds of marriages are always an energy source for the couple. It doesn’t matter if the marriage is love-marriage or an arrange one.

Unhappy marriage: – This is the one, which others enjoy more than the couple itself. There may be any reasons for the marriage to be unhappy, but basic thing is the lack of reasons of happy marriage. Such marriages cause negative energy and produce mental depressions and tension. Such marriages are not long lasting, if even than, these lasts, (as happens in some tradition enforced marriages in India, where divorce is a social crime) they are always irritating.

Mandatory marriage: – These are manifesto marriages. Such marriages exist for social pretension. These are found commonly in countries like India, where traditions are very respective and hard. Both or one of the couple, is totally neutral about warmness of marital relation. Society and family matters much more than each other. Such marriage goes very calmly, without expectation or romanticism of any kind. Responsibilities matter a lot instead of relations. Marriage becomes an agreement in such case.

If a marriage is a happy marriage, it is a great source of positive energy. Now-a-days effect of professionalisms is transiting marriages towards agreements. Modern youth has a big population of people not interested in marriage. Live in relation ships and short term agreements of natural need are being popular. As such thought containers think marriage, more of a social responsibilities, than a love based life- long relationship. Arrange marriages are now eliminating or being converted into net-arranged or wedding- planner arranged. Even in such panned marriages, there is an important factor of testifying each other, before marriage. Currently professions are gaining lot more attention than marriages, so marriages are being secondary and late in life. After getting late, marriages become a responsibility, because everyone needs a companion, spatially in latter part of life.

For a well-settled happy life it is almost a necessity for a common human, to have a good family and happy-healthy marriage. In some cases, people decide to avoid marriage or to live alone for life long, as if they are doing something so important, that they can not take an extra responsibility or burden; if they had an irritating family history with parents or in past relation experiences or if they think living freely is what they want in life, so there is no need to attach themselves in expectations.

Some people like their marital life and some not. After all marriage is one of the strongest concepts of human civilization and a very traditional custom. In modern age there may be some rare difference of thoughts, but most of the world, believe marriages to be very important for a happy life. In religious view man and woman are incomplete without each other, system of marriage supports the completion very much. It prevents social crimes and helps in building a healthy social system.

Leafet Promotion and Distribution a Price Busting Way to Promote Your What You Are Doing throughout the Financial Blues. How to Triumph over the Cycle March 8, 2009

Filed under: Plugging Things @ 2:12 pm

Planinng a leaflet distribution services are one of the foremost ways to increase advantage over your contenders. How exactly? Letterbox and door drops is the solution. By engaging a endless leaflet distribution campaign you can accomplish uttermost
exposure via the letterbox. Its a very over looked advertising strategy which works very well, that is ofcourse is using leaflet distribution services

If your merchandise is made to attract to a generic market place and you want to concentrate on a really special country, letterbox campaigning is a great, bargain priced way of hitting your direct market.

But certain in the readying of your leaflet distribution runs as this is key if you are to make the most of your investment.

Leaflet distribution permits you to return specified answer from targeted groups of clients. It’s a particularly
functional instrument for small business enterprises because it permits you to concentrate small resources where they are most likely to make result and appraise the success of promotions accurately by breaking down answers. But remember that the results of leaflet distributoin aren’t secured. A poorly projected or targeted promotion will be a waste of hard earned cash

There are a number of different methods in which leaflet distribution has been utilized in a semipolitical capacity. Some of these causes are as follows. One of the most general functions of booklet drops is to provide individuals with information to counter info that has been distributed by the opposition. The brochures can also be applied to threaten people with an attack. This is especially likely in conflicts in which regular armies can inform opposition military personnels that they will invade if no follow up action is made. The leaflets in war situations are often used to encourage the opposition to surrender and if how to go about surrendering without facilitating a retaliation.

If you have determined that a leaflet distribution will be a good form of campaigning in order to bring in some much required likely patronage, then you need to set about the chore of choosing the most acceptable company to conduct the promotion for you.

On That Poin there are numerous factors to be thought when doing this, these are influential in obtaining the strongest effects from your promotion.

You need to consider where you are going to target your leaflets and the coverage and penetration that you want to accomplish. If you are just thinking of a conservative promotion in the local region, it may be provident to choose a smaller local company who just manage the little promotions in one area. They are quite in all likelihood to be cost effective, and have lower lead times. Accountability may be a problem if things do not go according to plan, so this demands to be weighed against the number of financial spending.

    A Publisher’s Rant – A Checklist of Items March 6, 2009

Filed under: Publishing Management @ 10:57 am

Assuming you’ve read my rants on articles, you may want a checklist of items to consider for future articles. I am at your service.

    Checklist

This checklist is going to be short and to the point. Remember, I’m lazy. Go back and read the original article if you need more information.

    1. Headlines – Keyword phrases should ALWAYS be the first words. No exceptions.

    2. First Paragraph – No more than 38 words. Two to three short sentences with the keywords from your headline included near the beginning.

    3. No one sentence paragraphs.

    4. Cut up long sentences into shorter ones. If a sentence is over two lines, it can be cut down.

    5. Linking In Article – Don’t. Just do it in the byline.

    6. Body Headlines – Break up the article with headlines in the body. Just keep them short and capitalize the first letter of each word.

    7. Last Paragraph – Sum up the point of your article. Don’t include links or a plea to go to your site. Use the byline for your begging. I do.

    8. Bylines – Keep them under four lines. Try to include the keyword phrases you are using on your site. If you are linking to an internal page of the site, use the keywords on that page, not your home page.

Eight stinking guidelines. Is that too much to ask? I think not! Besides, I’ve already had laser surgery and can’t afford a second session of smelling my eyeballs smoke. Please follow them. If you do, I will publish your articles and so will others.

Despite the tone of these articles, I am trying to help you get more bang for your buck with your articles. Okay, I am also trying to make my life easier, but there isn’t any reason why we can’t both benefit. If you want to get published more often, follow these guidelines. Publishers, webmasters and editors will love you.

The again, I could be wrong.

Okay. Occasionally you can use one-sentence paragraphs.

    Just not very often.

Empowerment in an Unexpected Field March 4, 2009

Filed under: School of Self Improvement @ 11:38 am

Did you see the film, “Field of Dreams”? Probably. And, if not, I suggest that you rent the video. Even if you have not viewed the film personally, you at least know its most famous line, repeated often in the film and in our conversations: “If you build it, he will come.”

In the film, the voice did not say when or how or why or even who! The voice only said, “If you build it, he will come.” Iowa farmer Ray Kinsella (Kevin Costner) agonized over the message, took actions that were ridiculed, and spent all his resources. (Do you know anyone like this in real life?) He did not discover nor do we as the audience know what the message really meant until “it” was built.

He trusted the process of his inner guidance, supported by a loving family, tenacity, curiosity, and disillusioned writer Terence Mann (James Earl Jones). And Ray built it. Then, not only did “he” come, but “they” came, filling the field with electricity that drew more people.

Had Ray trusted the paradigm which claims we must have all the facts and proof before proceeding, he would not have built the field. The film is about many issues: clarity of vision, dreams and dreaming, building and rebuilding, trust, goodness, relationships, hope, getting a second chance, taking risks, love, reconciliation.

It is a picture about positive power in an unexpected place.
