Changes for the 2011 NASCAR Race Schedule August 8, 2010

Although the actual 2011 NASCAR Sprint Cup schedule remains to have been published, there are various interesting alterations being verified, hinted at and talked over.

Out of left field, it seems, is Atlanta Motor Speedway will only have one race in 2011. Generally within the NASCAR schedule Atlanta carries a race relatively early in the season in March. And then again late in the season during the 10-race Chase. NASCAR has acknowledged that during the 2011 NASCAR race season Atlanta will be reduced to one race. They will most likely be losing their early race and be a track on the schedule for the period of the closing ten races in the NASCAR season.

Another biggie in the 2011 NASCAR schedule is a new track will be raced at for the NASCAR Sprint Cup drivers. It’s Kentucky Speedway. Kentucky happens to be on the Nationwide race schedule a couple of years. Kentucky Speedway has been fighting with NASCAR for this change a ’stated’ Cup race. Bruton Smith, the owner of Atlanta Motor Speedway, has created that Kentucky will be on the 2011 NASCAR schedule by taking from Atlanta and rendering it to Kentucky.

Still yet another rumor is the fact that Chicagoland Speedway is the race the first of the final tracks that make up the NASCAR Chase will be raced at. In times past, as early as the invention of the Chase, New Hampshire Motor Speedway has been the first race. Chicagoland routinely is at the beginning of July. I’m interested to watch how this change to the schedule varies the dynamics of the Chase.

Yet another much talked about thought the past several seasons where some tracks like Darlington in addition to Rockingham drop and in some cases shut down is if Pocono Raceway would certainly continue to have two races on the NASCAR schedule. Considering the variety of tracks wanting additional races or exploring to put wholly fresh tracks to the schedule lots of fans have sought the races here minimized to one. Some people would declare zero!

The big question is if ever any of the races, in addition to Chicagoland, could well be modified in the 2011 NASCAR schedule for the 10 Chase races. Numerous NASCAR fanatics would like to experience a road course in the the Chase.

I am looking forward to the changes for the 2011 NASCAR schedule and to check out how options are changed up.
